Three of our clients shared their experiences of struggle and overcoming. We often believe those who are struggling just need to work harder. Hear what happens when clients are working as much as possible and it wasn't enough. They will share what they did about it and how they are doing now.
Blank Spaces “founding female” and returning intern for the summer, Karyme Zuniga, has received past services from PCS. She remarks, “Growing up my family had a lot of financial difficulties and Panhandle Community Services was able to provide aid through their utility assistance program. They really helped us out in a time of need; being able to work on their mural and continue to beautify their building highlights how everything comes full circle. It makes me happy to know I’m doing something for an organization special to me that helps and serves our community.” Karyme is now in her second year as apre-medical major at Texas Tech University and is pursuing a career as cardiothoracic surgeon.
Client D received housing assistance while attending college to receive her nursing degree. She worked hard to take care of COVID-19 patients during the height of the pandemic.
She says, “ Thank you PCS for standing with me in the middle of a difficult time, so I could stand with others in difficult places."

Claudia is part of our Family Development Program. She says, “I am currently attending Amarillo College to receive my Medical Lab Tech Degree. The degree I’m working towards is an important step for me as I will be the first in my family to receive an Associates Degree.”
“I am thankful for PCS, they have been a strong source to help me through. If it wasn’t for them I am unsure where I would be. They help me think outside the box.” - Claudia.
